Peat soil improvement using cement and quarry dust

چکیده

Abstract Peat soil is one of the types available in Malaysia, which has a high compressibility and low shear strength. Thus, peat considered inappropriate to support construction site its natural state. Among methods suitable for stabilization using cement. However, quantity cement required quite large made this method not too environmentally friendly due carbon dioxide, CO 2 emission from production. Therefore, study, quarry dusts are used partially substitute ordinary Portland stabilization. Quarry were expected potentially act as pozzolan (containing cementitious properties replace cement). Laboratory testing determine physical, chemical mechanical carried out investigate strength, acidity microstructure treated untreated soil. For properties, Unconfined Compressive Strength test (UCS), was conducted strength., Chemical (Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX)) tests assess mechanism strength gain stabilized The results obtained show that by replacing with 5% dust, increases 47 684 kN/m , loading such car park area outdoor sport court. microstructural also PC PCQ5 calcium, Ca decreases an effect on increasing decreasing acidity.

Stabilisation of Engine Oil Contaminated Soil Using Cement Kiln Dust

The utilisation of industrial bi-products such as cement kiln dust (CKD) is of increasing importance as an option for stabilising contaminated sites due to its pozzolanic nature and also in view of minimising the environmental impact. The experimental programme was carried out in the present study to evaluate the efficacy of CKD as stabilising agent at different percentages 2%, 6%, and 14% (w/w...

A Study on Strength of Concrete With Partial Replacement Of Cement With Quarry Dust And Metakaolin

Concrete a composite material made from cement, water, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate. But present researchers are in interest of finding new cement materials by waste materials or waste products produced from industries which are harmful to environment. The present paper deals with partial replacement of cement with quarry dust and metakaolin which are having silica used as admixture for ...

Solidification/Stabilization of Lead Contaminated Soil Using Magnesia Phosphate cement and Ordinary Portland cement

Background and objectives: Solidification/stabilization is an effective technique for reducing the leachability of contaminants in soils. Magnesia phosphate cement and ordinary Portland cement can be used to remediate soils contaminated. In this study, the performance of the solidified/stabilized soil was compared for mixtures composed of magnesia phosphate and ordinary Portland cement. Materia...

Evaluation of cement dust effects on soil microbial biomass and chlorophyll content of Triticum aestivum L. and Hordeum vulgare L.

ABSTRACT: Overall plant growth and microbial biomass can be effected by dust accumulation. The chloroform fumigation-extraction method was used to evaluating the effect of cement dust pollution emitted from Kurdistan cement factory on soil microbial biomass carbon. Chlorophyll content (a, b and total) of plants species was measured in different distance from cement factory. Mic...
